Thalia's Birthday Celebration: The bookstore "Family" is 90 years old
Hagen/Hamburg, September 22, 2009 – In the fall of 1919 the first ever Thalia bookstore opened their doors in Hamburg. The small corner shop in the building of the Thalia Theater gave the books-tore and also today's Thalia Group its name.
Its 90-year anniversary gave Thalia an occasion to look back on nine decades of its fascinating company history that is in part also a mirror image of German history. Looking back, milestones of the company chronicles include of course its foundation by Alfred Sc hulze in 1919 and in particular during the era of the owner family Könnecke (Hamburg) since 1931 and the business combination of the Thalia Group and the bookstore group, Phönix-Montanus, in the spring of 2001.
Today, the Thalia Group with approximately 300 bookstores in German-speaking countries is available locally to its customers almost everywhere. In addition to further compressing its steady presence, Thalia will also in the future expand and enrich its ex-tensive offer in the Internetshop www.thalia.de in order to be available to its customers through various channels around the clock and from anywhere with its usual outstanding quality and excellent service.
